Description
The Chapel House is a mid-18th century house, altered in the early 20th century in an Arts & Crafts style. It is constructed of brick with an old plain tile roof. The main portion of the house is two storeys and three bays, with a later wing extending to the rear on the left-hand side. A central, early 20th century gabled porch features a half-glazed door. Each side of the main facade has a three-light casement window within a gabled bay window. On the first floor, in the centre, is a two-light casement. Each side has two two-light casements within an oriel window supported by single brackets. The house has end stacks. In 1782, the rear wing was converted into a Roman Catholic chapel by the Smythe family of Brambridge House, Colden Common.
