Description
Furzehill Cottage is a late medieval timber-frame cottage, incorporating a small barn. A timber-framed extension was added around 1600, with a 20th-century extension to the rear. The exposed timber frame has painted brick infill, while other walls are painted brick or rendered. The roof is half-hipped and thatched, with a hipped shingle roof over the barn. The cottage is of several phases; the main house portion is two storeys with an irregular arrangement of casement windows. A boarded door is set within a 20th-century porch. A passage connects the cottage to the barn, which has now been converted into a living room. The barn’s roof structure features a Queen post truss with splayed struts across four bays.
