Description
A pair of semi-detached houses dating from around 1840, located on the north side of Winchester. The houses are built of white brick in a header bond pattern; the rear is of rubble and flint with red brick dressings, and the right return is rendered. They have a Welsh slate roof and mostly rendered red-brick stacks. The design is symmetrical with two storeys and a cellar, spanning four bays. The front features a plinth of red brick in header bond, and stone steps lead to centrally located round-arched doorways. The windows have flat brick arches and projecting stone sills, with the exception of the segmental-arched cellar windows. The roof is shallow and hipped, with overhanging eaves. Two stacks are situated at each end of the buildings. The rear elevation features brick quoins, window surrounds, and an eaves band. Single-storey additions to the rear are of no particular architectural interest. Ground floor windows have been altered. At the time of inspection in December 1989, all openings were boarded up.
