Description
Nos 12 and 12A on St James' Lane are early 19th-century buildings, dating from 1833. They are two storeys high and originally formed a pair of houses. The south front features a symmetrical formal design with four elliptical arches, each supported by flat pilasters that have small moulded caps at the springing of the arches. The building has wide flat eaves and a hipped slate roof. Between each pair of arches, there is a French window with a decorative cast iron balcony on the first floor and a door below. The overall front includes four windows and two doors on the ground floor, along with six sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor, one of which is a canted bay. The ground floor has been altered, and the doors are modern.
