Description

This is a pair of early 19th-century houses located on St James' Lane, originally numbered 1 and 2 St James' Crescent. The houses are three storeys high and are constructed from brick and flint, with a formal stuccoed front facing south. They have slate roofs. Each house is framed by a pair of tall Doric pilasters, two storeys in height, accentuated by a deep band and a moulded cornice above. The second floor is treated as a parapeted attic storey, with each house featuring three windows. A projecting porch with Ionic columns and an entablature stands before the front doors. Ground floor windows have moulded cornices supported by small brackets; above are sash windows with glazing bars. The roof is hipped and slate-covered.
