Description

Sandy Hill House is a late 18th-century house with later 19th-century additions. The walls are primarily brick, with blue headers and red dressings, featuring a plinth, rubbed flat arches beneath moulded bands, a moulded first-floor band, and a moulded and dentilled eaves cornice. Other walls are painted brickwork. The tiled roof is hipped, with dormers to the front and rear. The east front is symmetrical, with two storeys and an attic, presenting a five-window facade. It has Victorian casement windows. A 20th-century, simple classical doorcase fronts the main entrance, which is positioned at the north end, accessed by an Edwardian porch with a flight of steps and wrought-iron side rails. The rear of the house is irregular, displaying tile-hanging, sash windows, casements, and a verandah with a hipped tile roof. Inside, one room retains complete 18th-century pinewood panelling.
