Description

London Lodge, built around 1806 by George Dance junior, comprises a pair of lodges connected by a screen wall with a central arched gateway. The lodges are constructed of brick, covered with stucco, and have slate roofs. They are single-storied, with a single bay width and two bays in depth, set on a plinth and feature pilasters, a frieze, a cornice, and a pediment. Each lodge has a 12-pane sash window and a rendered stack on the ridge between the bays.

The screen wall originally formed a two-bay quadrant, but a projection was added to the inner face of the lodges, in front of the curved section. The central gateway has a tall, narrow arch and a parapet with wavy cresting and a scallop at the center. Octagonal turrets, decorated with anthemion motif crenellation, are positioned at the corners of the wall.

The rear of the lodges features a colonnade of octagonal wooden posts supporting a modified entablature, located between the lodges and the gateway, in front of the screen walls.
