Description

Western Court Farmhouse is a farmhouse with a 16th-century core that was rebuilt in the 18th century, with some alterations in the 19th century. The building features a timber-frame core, brick construction, and an old plain tile roof. It has a three-bay 16th-century structure with a service bay on a lower level to the right of the screens passage. The left side was rebuilt in the 18th century as a two-bay section attached to the three-bay block, which has a higher hipped roof. The right bay has been refronted, and an outshot has been added to the rear. The front of the farmhouse has four bays and is two stories high, with the right old bay at a lower level. In the second bay from the right, there is a 20th-century brick gabled porch, which has an 18th-century door leading to the screens passage. To the right, there is a 20th-century four-light casement window, and on the first floor, there are two 18th-century three-light casements. On the left side, the left bay has windows positioned higher than the adjacent bay. On the ground floor of these bays, there is an 18th-century 12-pane sash window, and on the first floor, there is an 18th-century 9-pane sash window, both featuring gauged brick arches. The roof of the right bays is steeply pitched with a gable end stack, while the left side has a higher ridge and eaves of the 18th-century hipped roof, which includes a central ridge stack.
