Description
This is a barn range located 15 meters north of Haydown Farm House, dating from the early to late 18th century. The main barn features a timber frame that is weatherboarded and sits on a high brick plinth, with additional sections constructed from cob and brick, all covered by old plain tile roofs. The early 18th century barn has seven bays and faces the road, while at the far end, a four-bay barn has been added. Alongside this, there is a six-bay cart shed and a two-bay stable addition on the road end. The stable addition has a blind wall facing the road, a hay loft at one end, and stable doors on the inner side. The second bay of the main barn includes double doors on both sides in the central bay and the second bay from the far end. The added barn is made of yellow brick with red brick dressings, featuring windows in the bays on either side of the second bay, along with a stable door and a cart shed extending from the end bay. The main barn has a half-hipped roof, similar to the ends of the added sections. Inside, the barn boasts a queen post roof with braces to cambered ties, a ridge plank, and diagonal braces in the walls.
