Description
Ranvilles Farmhouse is a large 16th-century timber-framed farmhouse, featuring some 18th-century cladding and a mid-19th-century rear extension. The timber frame is exposed above the ground floor in the main block and in the north wall of the rear wing, with brick infill that is mostly herringbone. Other walls are constructed of brickwork in English bond, with some sections in Flemish and Monk bond. The farmhouse has a tiled roof and a shafted stack.
The west front elevation is two storeys high with an attic and has two windows. There is a single-storeyed extension on the south side that includes one window. The windows are casements, and an old window with diagonal oak mullions has been filled in. A late 19th-century gabled brick porch features an arched entrance and a boarded door.
On the north elevation, the large gable of the main block includes an attic window, while the lower wing to the east side has a first storey and attic with three windows above. The windows are casements, including a five-unit splayed oriel fitted in the gabled dormer, which has a moulded cill.
