Description

Ash Lawn is an early 18th-century house in Penton Grafton, constructed of flint with brick dressings and originally thatched. The front (east) elevation has two storeys and three windows. The roof is half-hipped at the north end, with exposed brick nogging in the upper gables. The flint walls are complemented by brick quoins, an eaves band, and rubbed flat arches above a projecting course, defining a plinth. The windows are casements. The doorway features an open, lead-covered gable with a panelled soffit supported by carved brackets and thin panelled pilasters. A six-panelled door, with two upper glazed panels, is set within. Two incised bricks are present: one marked "MC" and the other inscribed with "1717".
