Description

This is a late 18th-century house with a forecourt wall and piers. The house is situated on The Square in Hurstbourne Tarrant. The front (south-west) elevation is symmetrical, featuring three windows over two storeys. The brick facade has a projecting eaves cornice with full mouldings and small modillions, above a hipped roof. A cambered arch sits above the centre window, and the ground floor has a plinth. The windows are sashes, with two-storeyed, splayed bays on either side. The central doorway has a moulded canopy with a panelled soffit, supported by carved brackets and an architrave. The door is five-panelled with a glazed upper panel. The remaining walls are rendered, two incorporating coved eaves. A lower, two-storeyed extension utilizes brick and tile construction and has sash and casement windows. The forecourt is enclosed by a 20th-century brick wall, connected by six original piers. Each pier has stone caps and two rusticated bands of unknapped flint.
