Description

Horsebridge House is an early 18th-century house located in Kings Somborne. It is constructed of colourwashed brick with an old plain tile roof, and features a timber stud frame internally. The house is two storeys high, with three bays and a lean-to on the left side, built as a double pile. The front elevation has a central, top-lit six-panel door dating to the early 19th century. Tall twelve-pane sash windows are positioned on either side of the door, with three further twelve-pane sashes above. The roof is hipped with end stacks. Internally, the house retains early 18th-century features, with the exception of a 17th-century staircase originally from a nearby manor house near Whitchurch. Horsebridge House was constructed for a bachelor gentleman, and its internal layout provides insight into the social structure of that period.
