Description
Kimpton Cottage and Yew Tree Cottage form an unequal pair of cottages, originally dating back to the 17th century, with later alterations and additions in the 19th century and late 20th century. The construction incorporates flint and brick, with a hipped thatched roof. The south-facing front is irregular, displaying four windows. The western part, Kimpton Cottage, has a two-storey, single-window wing projecting forward, with a garage set even further forward. Yew Tree Cottage, on the east side, features a single-storeyed outshot to the front and substantial extensions to the rear. The original section of Kimpton Cottage showcases flint walls, accented with brick quoins and bands. Decorative brickwork includes a zig-zag pattern between the bands at the first-floor level, lozenges, cambered openings, and a plinth. A small, oval feature above the original doorway is now filled. The doorway itself has a triangular brick arch containing the date 1610. The eastern side, Yew Tree Cottage, has flint panels from the early 19th century, alongside other flint walls lacking bands but retaining brick quoins. Casement windows are present, alongside three French doors, one sheltered by a thatched hood supported by posts.
