Description

Apple Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 18th century, constructed of brick and thatch. It is positioned at right angles to the roadway and features a nearly symmetrical front (south) with two storeys and two windows. The roof is half-hipped, with a slate roof covering the rear outshot. The walls are built in Flemish bond with blue headers, and the ground-floor openings are cambered. There is a plinth, and the east wall is in header bond, with flint used in the outshot. The windows are leaded casements, and there is a plain doorway with a 20th-century open porch that has brick cheeks. A lead fire-insurance sign is also present. Inside, the cottage features a massive chimney-breast.
