Description
Rose Cottage is a cottage that also serves as an attached shop, dating from the 17th century, with a cross-wing added in the 19th century. The building features a timber frame with rendered brick infill and slate roofing. It has two bays of timber framing with raised eaves, reaching two storeys, and a 19th-century outshot at the rear. At the left end, there is a projecting cross-wing that houses the shop. The 17th-century bays have seven-light casements and a blocked door in the right bay, with two segmental-headed casements above. The right gable has been rebuilt. The shop section on the left has a central top-lit door flanked by windows, all beneath a moulded cornice, and a four-pane sash window above. A ridge stack is located above the blocked door. Inside, much of the original frame remains intact.
