Description

Preston Cottage is a house that was originally two cottages, dating to the 17th century, with alterations in the late 18th century. The walls are a mix of brick and flint, and the roof is thatched. The front (south-east) elevation is regular, with one storey and an attic, and four windows. The roof features eaves raised above the upper windows, with a catslide roof at the rear. The interior reveals a timber-frame that was refaced during the later building phase, with walls constructed of banded brick and flint, brick quoins, and cambered arches over the ground floor openings. It contains casement windows, and a boarded door set within a solid frame, located within a yew hedge ‘porch’.
