Description

Newton Cottages is a house, formerly two separate cottages, that dates back to the 17th century and features 18th-century cladding. It is situated at right angles to the roadway and is constructed of brick and thatch. The building has one storey and an attic, with four windows. The roof is half-hipped at the roadside gable (north-west) and hipped at the other end, with a catslide at the rear and eyebrow dormers. The main walls are made of painted brick, while the timber frame is exposed at the gable and rear wall. The windows are casements, and there is a boarded door with a thatched canopy supported on poles. The boundary wall along the roadside and extending at the rear is made of cob and topped with tiles.
