Description
The Andover Arms Public House is a public house located on Winchester Road in Kings Somborne. It dates from the 17th century, with later encasements from the 18th century and extensions from the early and late 19th century. The building features a timber frame that is encased in brick, with flint and brick additions, and has an old plain tile roof along with a slate roof.
The structure consists of three bays, with the right side featuring an early 19th-century cross-wing that projects forward by one bay and is two stories high. In front of the earlier section, there is a late 19th-century outshot with a slate roof and a 20th-century garage at the left end, which has a door facing the road. The outshot has a four-panel half-glazed door on its right end, and to the left, there are two four-pane sash windows. In the end of the wing, there are two casement windows, all of which have rendered arches. The roof is half-hipped on the left side, and there is a stack located at the left of the outshot. The building is included for its group value.
