Description
Nos 2 and 4 on Portersbridge Street are located on the north side and date from the 18th and early 19th centuries.
No 2 is an early 19th-century, two-storey building with one window bay and a gable end facing the street. It is constructed of red brick and has a slate roof that extends over a single-storey addition to the west. This addition is also made of red brick with vitreous brick headers and features two sash windows set in reveals with slightly segmental arches; these windows do not have glazing bars and are fitted with shutters. The two-storey section to the east has a segmental-headed sash window, four panes wide, in reveals on both the ground and first floors, with shutters on the ground floor window. To the left, there is a plain wooden door with a rectangular fanlight.
No 4 is an 18th-century building with visible light timber-framed construction in the upper part of the east wall. It has a tile roof with a half hip at the east end. The south wall is finished with pebble-dash over brick. Above, there are two small two-light casement windows, while below are three small modern windows and one wooden boarded door.
