Description
House. Built in the early 18th century, with alterations in the mid-19th century, this is a brick and tile farmhouse. The symmetrical front (south) faces with two storeys and an attic, and features seven windows. The roof is steeply hipped, with three hipped dormers featuring sash windows, a fully moulded eaves cornice, and a monopitch section from the rear eaves. The brickwork is in a Flemish bond pattern, using blue headers. Details include flush red quoins, rubbed flat arches, a moulded first-floor band, stone sills, and a high plinth. The windows are sashes, with one original above the front door; the others are 18th-century sashes with interior folding shutters. The front door is set in a plain frame, flanked by carved brackets supporting a hood, and features an eight-panelled door, with the two upper panels glazed. A large stepped stack is located at the east end. The rear elevation is plain, with casements and three ground-floor sash windows, along with an arched doorway. A single-storey service wing extends to the east, incorporating old leaded casements and a boarded door. Inside, there is a simple 18th-century staircase.
