Description

A late 18th-century cottage, extended at both ends in the early 19th century. It is built of brick in a Sussex bond, now painted, with a peg-tiled roof and brick chimney stacks at each end. The extensions are weatherboarded on the first floor. The windows are irregular, with gabled dormers on the north front, and early 19th-century three-light casement windows with pintle hinges. Ground floor windows have cambered head linings. A central, weatherboarded porch has an early 19th-century plank door with diamond-shaped lights on either side. A cambered plank door to an outshut is on the right side, and a casement in a cambered surround is on the left. The south front has a central three-light casement with a leaded light and two further three-light leaded-light windows to the ground floor, featuring pegged architraves and pintle hinges. Cross-shaped iron ties are visible. A central cambered doorcase has been blocked to create a seat. Wings are weatherboarded with a single small casement window on the first floor. There is a two-light casement on the left side and a plank door on the right. The east front features a four-light casement with one original leaded light, a cupboard door with an H&L hinge, and 18th or early 19th-century doors are reported within the interior.
