Description
The Red Lion Public House is an early 19th-century building located on the south side of High Street in Milford on Sea. The facade is stuccoed and features quoins, topped with a tiled roof. It stands two storeys high and has five windows, which are sashes with glazing bars. On the ground floor, there are two later three-light windows. A notable feature is the good perch supported by two Doric pillars, with a heavy hood that has a cornice and a small blocking course above it. There is also an additional eastern doorway adorned with pilasters and a heavy cornice above.
Attached to the pub is a former stable building made of red brick with a slate roof and stucco dressings, which is also part of the group. This stable building is two storeys high and has three windows, with an advanced western bay that features a semi-circular window set under a shallow gable. The Red Lion is part of a group that includes Bay Trees Restaurant, Nos 10 to 16 (even), No 20, and Nos 22 and 28, which are all buildings of local interest.
