Description

This is an early 19th century terrace of eight cottages on the south side of High Street, Milford on Sea. The buildings are constructed of red brick, with number 42 being rendered white. The roofs are slate, although numbers 34 and 36 have tiled sections. Each cottage originally had one window, with mainly original sash windows containing glazing bars, although numbers 34 and 36 have later 19th century glazing. Numbers 34 to 38 have had bow windows inserted, and number 42 has a modern shop window which is currently unused. The buildings are listed at Grade II for their group value. They are set alongside the Red Lion Public House (number 34), numbers 44 to 46, and number 37 (The Old Smithy), which stands opposite and contribute to local character.
