Description
The Rookery is a 16th-century timber-framed house that has been reclad and extended in the 18th century, with further alterations and additions made in the 19th century. The walls are constructed of brickwork, featuring some mathematical tiles, arranged in Flemish and other bond patterns, with half-timbered fronts on the large dormers. The house has a tiled roof with two gabled dormers and a symmetrical east front with two storeys. The windows are sashes set in exposed frames, while the dormers have casement windows. There is a six-panelled door located beneath a flat hood. The house is named after Admiral Rook, and at the rear, there is a chalk cob wall surrounding the garden.
