Description

18th century. Formerly known as the Old Harlequin or Harbour Inn. This cottage is part of the same building as number 9 and projects forward from it. It is constructed of painted brick with a double-span old tiled roof. The building comprises two storeys, a basement, and an attic dormer, with two windows. The upper windows are sash windows with boxed frames and late 18th century glazing. The ground floor features an inserted bow window and a brick porch approached by five steps. A plaque records that the inn served as the headquarters for press gangs around 1809. Numbers 6 to 11 form a group.
