Description
No 36, known as The White House, is an 1812 building located on the north side of High Street in Odiham. It is a two-storey structure with a symmetrical facade featuring two windows on either side of a slightly projecting central section. The building has a hipped slate roof with moulded eaves and a wide soffit. The walls are finished in stucco, with stone cills and a plinth. The windows are sashes set in reveals.
The entrance is highlighted by a Greek Doric porch that is accessed via stone steps. This porch features fluted columns, pilasters, and architraves, along with a square fanlight that has diagonal and square patterns, and a six-panelled door.
In front of the house, there is a low boundary wall with stone coping, which has been modified with a hedge replacing the original rails. The wall curves inward at the east end to form a gateway, flanked by red brick piers that are stone-capped and topped with acorns.
Inside, the house includes a staircase and a good fireplace.
