Description

Greensleeves is a house of 16th and 17th century origins, located on the west side of Dippenhall Street, Crondall. The house is composed of two distinct sections. The southern part is a substantial two-storey block extending westward. It is timber-framed and predominantly tile-hung on its south side, with a large, exposed half-timbered gable facing east. Attached to the north is a lower, longer block characterised by a high roof and exposed timber framing, with some sections of the ground-floor framing missing. The roof is red tile, with gabling and tile-hanging to the north gable, and features a tall, shafted stack. The timber framing incorporates red brickwork, which is also used in the walls elsewhere. The windows are casements, including one on the first floor of the east gable and five along the ground floor, all with leaded lights, some of which are old. A six-panelled door, with brackets where a canopy once stood, provides access to the house.
