Description

The Close is a 17th and 18th century building in Dippenhall Street, Crondall. An earlier structure is set back, with a later 18th-century block built up to the roadside. The building is two storeys high with a four-window front. It has a red tile roof with four gables to the east front, the northernmost being smaller and above a slightly later addition. A large gable at the west end of the south side is tile-hung in decorative bands. The walls are red brick, with a first-floor band (omitted under the north gable), and a plinth. The ground-floor openings are cambered and the windows are sash windows in exposed frames. There is an entrance on the north side, sheltered by an open sloping tile roof. A large chimney breast is visible on the south side.
