Description

The stable block at Dogmersfield Park dates from the 18th and early 19th centuries. It features a square courtyard surrounded by single-storey ranges, with a gateway in the center of the north side and a two-storey centerpiece on the south. The northern part of the east side has a house that was added in the early 19th century. The exterior is made of plain red brick in English bond, with a plinth and a hipped red tile roof at the corners. The west range has an arched doorway with a stone bay and impost blocks. The gateway is a simple round arch with a stone keystone and stone impost bands, topped with a gabled roof that has a pediment effect marked by dentils made of vertical bricks. A clock is positioned in the center, and above the roof, there is a wooden bell turret with an ogee cap.

Internally, the east and west sides have a slightly projecting centerpiece with a pediment gable featuring brick dentils. Each of the intervening units on three sides has a central doorway flanked by half-circle windows with high cills. The south range includes three first-floor windows in the center block and a ground floor arrangement of two doors and one oval archway, along with two additional archways. The house added to the east wing has an external elevation of two storeys, featuring three windows in a Gothick style on the ground floor, an open gabled porch, cement walling, and large diagonal triple flue stacks at each gable end. The roof slopes on the east side and the northern part of the south side are covered in slate. There have been later alterations, including the widening or closing of original openings, some additions, and an exposed northeast corner resulting from the demolition of a late extension.
