Description

This early 19th-century gun bollard stands in the passage between numbers 93 and 94 on the south side of High Street, Gosport. It is presumed to be a 24-pounder naval gun from a wooden fighting ship. The gun protrudes approximately 5 feet from the ground, and its visible barrel tapers to a moulded section, with a bell-shaped and moulded mouthpiece measuring 5 inches in bore.
