Description

Garden Cottage is a combined garden cottage and billiard room built around 1800 by Humphry Repton. This single-storey brick building features a diaper pattern of red brick with blue headers and has a hipped tiled roof with three courses of curved tiles and two of plain tiles. The rectangular plan has cut-off corners and a dogtooth eaves cornice. The front elevation includes a cambered doorcase with a plank door, decorative iron hinges, and a porch with curved bargeboards, a pendant, a finial, and chamfered wooden piers. To the right, there is a bay window with four wooden lights. The rear elevation showcases a three-light canted bay supported by unusual ogee arched wooden supports. The remaining side features two chamfered arches and an angled queen strut roof.
