Description

The Hard is an 18th-century building located on Swanwick Shore Road in Lower Swanwick. It is constructed of red brick with some grey headers and features a brick eaves cornice. The roof is old, tiled, and hipped. The building has two storeys and three windows, although the centre window on the first floor is now blank and covered with roughcast rendering. The sashes have boxed frames and late 19th-century glazing. The entrance features a centre door with a plain stucco architrave, which now has a glazed panel set over a modern door. The Hard, along with Bay Tree Cottages (Nos 1 and 2) and Victory Cottages (Nos 1 to 6 in sequence), as well as the building adjacent to No 1, form a group.
