Description

The Gate House is a house with a central carriageway, dating from what was originally cottages, but substantially reconstituted in 1910 by Inigo Triggs as part of a larger estate scheme. The lower walls are rendered, while the upper walls are tile-hung with a distinctive bell-cast profile. The central section features an exposed timber frame, continued through the archway, sitting on a brick base. The archway is high enough to allow vehicles to pass underneath, achieved by cutting into the ground which is higher than the adjacent road level. The roof is tiled, with gablets above hips, extending to lower eaves. There are three upper casement windows, with one being a half-bay on the north side. A plain door provides access. Later rear extensions have been added in a matching style.
