Description
Strawtop is a house dating from the 17th century, with 18th century cladding and a 20th century extension. It is constructed of brick and thatch and features a lobby entrance with a timber-framed design. The house has a central massive stack, and the walls were replaced in the 18th century. There is a westward extension from around 1930. The interior boasts high ceilings, and the clear main beams suggest there was once an upper floor. The building is now a single storey with eight windows and has a half hipped roof. The walls are made of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring cambered openings and a stepped plinth. The windows are 20th century casements. There is a late 19th century gabled porch with ornamental bargeboards, a pantiled roof, and glazed cheeks. At one time, the house contained more than one dwelling and included a post office/shop at the west end.
