Description

Greensleeves is a house, originally a group of cottages, dating back to approximately 1600. It has been extended in the 17th century, the late 18th century, and the early 19th century. The house is timber-framed with flint and brick, and has thatched and slate roofing. The original section is a timber-framed building with a large central chimney stack and a lobby entrance, extended to the west by a further timber-framed addition, and to the east by smaller extensions from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The house is one storey and attic in height, with the east end being a lower two storeys, and has an irregular arrangement of windows. The thatched roof has a half-hip at the west end, and transitions to a hipped slate roof at the east end; the thatched section includes eyebrow dormers. The timber frame is exposed and the infill panels are painted brick, about half of which feature a herringbone pattern. The east end incorporates flintwork with brick quoins and cambered arches, while the west wall is rendered. The windows are casements and there’s a boarded door within a plain frame. The building has group value, reflecting its historical development and vernacular architecture.
