Description

The Church of All Saints is a parish church featuring a 14th-century tower, with the main structure rebuilt in 1859 by Flockton of Sheffield. It has stone walls and a tiled roof. The church includes an aisleless nave, which dates back to 1380 and was rebuilt in 1859, along with a chancel that has a north vestry, a south porch added in 1899, and the west tower. The roof is plain, and the ashlar walls are supported by diagonal buttresses at the chancel. The building has a plinth and coupled traceried windows beneath hoodmoulds, with a large east window and a west window on the south side of the nave. The tower, dating from 1380, features a castellated parapet with corner pinnacles, which were added after a steeple was destroyed by fire in 1836. The gabled porch has a timber frame on a low stone wall.

Inside, the church contains Victorian fittings, with notable early features including the tower arch on the north side of the nave's west wall, which leads to the lower original floor level, and the nave roof, which has original king-post trusses. Near the font, there are two small brasses from around 1510 depicting a male and female figure. The nave also displays impressive wall monuments from the 18th and early 19th centuries. At the extreme west end, there are repositioned altar paintings from the 18th century, one depicting Moses and the other Aaron, shown as turbanned figures within wide arched frames. A small window on the north side of the chancel contains medieval glass from around 1260, depicting a saint kneeling for execution.
