Description
The Stable Block on the north side of Stratfield Saye Park dates from the 17th century and early 19th century. It is two storeys tall with an attic. The east front, which faces the main house, is symmetrical and features two Dutch gables separated by a parapet. A plain pediment with lower curving sides encloses a window on the north side and a clock face with a weather vane on the south. The building has slate roofing and stucco walls, with a band at the second floor, first-floor bands linked to keystones, and a plinth.
On the first floor, there are four regularly spaced windows, while the ground floor has two equally spaced windows on either side of a central doorway. The windows are casements, and the central entrance features a six-panelled door. The roadside facade to the south is also regular, consisting of five gables, with the second and fourth gables projecting slightly above oval arches that rest on full-height deep pilasters. The first-floor windows are positioned below the gables and arches, with short eaves sections in between. The windows are again casements, and there are plain doors located under the arches. To the west, there is a single-storeyed extension that has oval-arched openings.
