Description

The Statue of Horse and Dragon, dating from before 1830, is part of a commission given by George IV to the sculptor Matthew Cotes Wyatt for a sculpture of St George. However, the project did not advance beyond this piece, which depicts a horse and a dragon. The statue was acquired by the second Duke of Wellington in 1865 for Apsley House in London and was relocated to Stratfield Saye in 1950.
