Description
The Stable Block on the south side of Stratfield Saye Park dates from the 17th and 18th centuries and is two storeys high with an attic. The east front, which faces the house, is symmetrical and features two Dutch gables separated by a parapet. A plain pediment or gable with lower curving sides encloses a window on the south side and a clock face on the north side. The building has slate roofing and stucco walls, with a second-floor band, a first-floor band linked to keystones, and a plinth.
On the first floor, there are four regularly spaced windows, while the ground floor has two equally spaced windows on either side of a central doorway. The windows are casements, and the central entrance features a six-panelled door. The north facade, which faces the roadside, is also regular and has five gables, with the second and fourth gables projecting slightly above oval arches that rest on full-height deep pilasters. The fenestration pattern is consistent, with first-floor windows located below the gables and arches, along with intervening short eaves sections. The windows are again casements, and there are plain doors beneath the arches. To the west, there is a barn-like extension that is lower in height and ends with a hipped roof.
