Description
The Old Rectory is an early 19th-century building located on Church Lane in Basingstoke. It features a symmetrical south front with two storeys and an attic, comprising three windows. There is a lower one-window addition on the west end, which is of slightly later date and has been altered. The building has a steep hipped slate roof with two flat-roofed dormers that contain sash windows. The walls are constructed of blue brick headers, accented with flush red dressings, including rubbed flat arches and quoins, along with a plinth. The sash windows are set in exposed frames. A Tuscan porch with slender proportions includes a fanlight and a half-glazed door. The east end of the building has a semicircular two-storeyed projection that retains its central windows, while the west wing features an upper floor that is tile-hung with scalloped bands.
