Description
Hillside is a building dating from the 18th century to the early 19th century, located on Church Lane in Basingstoke. The structure features a central symmetrical elevation that has been extended on both sides, with the extensions varying in length. It stands two storeys high and has five windows on the first floor. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, and the eaves are decorated with brick dentils. The walls are made of red brick laid in Flemish bond, with first floor bands, rubbed flat arches, stone sills, and a plinth. The extensions are constructed from bluish brick in header bond, with the shorter one on the west side and a longer one on the east. The windows are sashes set in reveals, with two unevenly spaced on the ground floor. A thin Tuscan porch supported by two slender cast iron columns features a one-and-a-half glazed door, all resting on a stone base with four steps that are flanked by curved wrought iron rails.
