Description

Worting Farm is a building complex dating from the 17th century, 18th century, and early 19th century, arranged around a square courtyard. The western range is double-width, and there are minor variations in the wall and roof levels indicating alterations over time. It was previously a coaching inn known as the White Horse, and the carriageway entrance in the roadside wall is open internally, showcasing timber framework.

The residential section on the west side of the courtyard is two storeys high, featuring a tiled roof, brick dentil eaves, and irregular window arrangements in brick walls laid in Flemish bond. The centre of this section has two oval arches made of rubbed bricks with stone keystones, one of which is dated 1759. The gabled, slightly projecting south side is from the early 19th century, and there are windows from various periods, including two old sash windows. One arcade is now blocked, while the other ranges, which are of similar height, have wide doorways and a carriageway through the east wing.

The roofing is made of red tiles in various styles, including gable, half-hipped, and full-hipped, and the walls are primarily red brick with some blue headers and banding. The north elevation facing the roadside is raised in the centre, topped with a lead flat, and features a pediment above the former carriageway entrance, which is now blocked. It has a first-floor band, rubbed flat arches, and a plinth, with sash windows. Inside, there is some 17th-century panelling, 18th-century dado panelling, and six panelled doors.
