Description
The Church of St Thomas A Becket, built in 1848, is a Grade II listed Gothic-style building that reflects 14th-century design. It features a nave and chancel, with an aisle and vestry on the north side. The steep red tile roof is adorned with scalloped bands, and the west end has a belfry topped by a shingled broach spire on a square base. The walls are constructed of flint with stone dressings and corner buttresses, and there are 2-light traceried windows set beneath hood-moulds, along with a plinth. A south porch is marked by a pointed arch beneath a gable. Inside, the church includes a chancel arch, an ogee arch leading to a sedilia, and an octagonal pulpit and font. Wall tomb slabs dated 1815, 1833, and 1842 suggest that this church is a replacement on a medieval site.
