Description
The stable block to the west of Worting House dates from the late 18th century and has some modern features. It has a two-storey symmetrical facade facing south, with a slightly projecting central block and a hipped slate roof. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, topped with a coping stone parapet. The ground floor features rubbed flat arches over the windows and a semi-circular arch above each unit on the upper floor. There are three windows on each side of the ground floor, with the center window replacing a former doorway. The central section has side pilasters with impost blocks that support a wide oval arch made of rubbed brickwork, which thickens towards the center and includes a keystone. This arch is now filled in, leaving a central opening with an oval fanlight above a doorway flanked by side windows, all covered by a modern canopy on posts that has an oval raised center. The windows are sash types set in reveals.
