Description
Edernish House, formerly known as The Rectory, is a late 18th century to 19th century building located on Vyne Road in Sherborne St John. The front elevation faces south and features three storeys with three windows. To the east, there is a slightly set back gabled wing that has two storeys and one window. The roof is hipped and covered with tiles, and it has brick dentil eaves. The ground floor is constructed of red brick, while the upper floors are clad in scalloped tiles. The windows are sash style and set in reveals.
The porch includes brick cheeks and a stone front, with a cornice that has upper mouldings continuing at the sides. This cornice is supported by console brackets above plain narrow verticals, which enclose a frieze and moulded architrave. The entrance features a half-glazed door. The rear elevation is similar in form and is also made of red brick in Flemish bond.
