Description
Blackford Farmhouse is a building that dates from the 17th century, with early 19th century and 20th century alterations. It is a one-storey structure with an attic and features two windows. The farmhouse has a cross wall of early timber-framing and a large chimney stack, both concealed by brickwork on the exterior. The roof is tiled and half-hipped, with two gabled dormers that have cills at eaves level. The walls are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with blue headers, and there is a thin band at the first floor, rubbed flat arches, and a high moulded plinth. Some changes and the stepping of the plinth indicate that alterations have been made. The windows are casements, including some with 'estate' cast-iron frames that have ogee lights. There is a brick porch, and the farmhouse has single-storeyed extensions, with a traditional style on the south end and a modern flat-roofed extension on the west elevation.
