Description
The statue and pedestal, dating from the 18th century, is associated with Wyatt, who designed the now-gone mansion. The structure is cube-shaped, featuring arched openings on slightly projected facades, topped with a semi-spherical dome. The walls and dome are made of heavily rusticated limestone that imitates tufa, while the deep recesses are lined with squared knapped flint, all resting on a brick foundation. At the top, there is a male Roman 'emperor' figure accompanied by a crouching child. The entire structure stands on a square berm, oriented towards former avenues, and is the only remaining landscape feature of what was once a notable landscaped park.
