Description
The Old Toll House is an early 19th-century, two-storey octagonal building located on Reading Road in Old Basing. It features a hipped slate roof with wide eaves supported by curved brackets at the corners and two additional points along the sides. The structure has a central chimney made of stucco and is finished with stucco walling that includes a moulded band at the first floor and a plain plinth. Each of the octagonal faces has a single opening, although some of these have been filled in. The windows are sash style, with the upper windows having six panes and the lower ones having twelve panes. The original doorway facing the road has been filled in, while there is a plain door on the side. At the rear, there is a later outshot made of red brickwork, topped with a pantile roof.
