Description

The Statue of George I, dating from 1722, is located in Hackwood Park, Winslade. It was a gift from the King to the third Duke of Bolton. Positioned on the axis of the house, the lead equestrian sculpture features a Roman figure seated on a horse with its right fore-leg raised. The statue stands on a tall rectangular pedestal that has semi-circular ends. The stone base includes a blocking course, a moulded cornice, and a moulded base on a stepped plinth. The middle section of the pedestal has plain panels on each face, with moulded edges.
